About us

Every day, we receive touching and entertaining stories that have been created by our products. For example, one customer told us that her 3-year-old son had taken his dirty pajamas out of the wash. The reason for this was the Smartcel fiber content because these were his only pajamas that could calm his neurodermitis tingling during the night.

Stories with impacts

Already in 2008 SMARTFIBER won first prizes with the Thuringian Research Award and the Innovation Award (as audience award). Already in the second following year SMARTFIBER received the German Innovation Award and the Founders Award Thuringia (2010). In 2018 as well as in 2019, SMARTFIBER's fibers were chosen as innovative fibers at the ISPO TEXTTRENDS. SMARTFIBER has also held the European Ecolabel EU Ecolabel for the SEACELL brand since 2014. In the same year, the company received the 'Green Leaf' award for production with environmentally friendly materials with low environmental impact in the life cycle.

Your partner for innovative cellulose fibers since 2005.

In 2005 SMARTFIBER was founded in Germany. Behind it were the research developments of the TITK. SMARTFIBER brought the innovative high-tech fibers to the global market and the company supports the development of incomparable textile products since day 1. The first products were created with the fiber now known today as SMARTCEL.

The innovative fiber SEACELL was acquired with the production facilities of SMARTFIBER in 2007. The knowledge and understanding built up by operating its own facilities is valuable to this day when it comes to supporting customers along the entire value chain. This of course includes the certification process that SMARTFIBER has built up to ensure that its customers' end products can be certified by independent testing institutes.

SMARTFIBER grows with partnerships and spawns new companies.

With an exclusive partnership with Lenzing AG, SMARTFIBER set another milestone in the direction of sustainable innovation fibers in 2011. The enthusiasm for the innovative cellulose fibers is also reflected in various company foundations that have been created based on SMARTFIBER's fibers. For example WYLD1 with sports products with SEACELL, Palgero for the perfect T-shirt, and Yoro Naturals which wants to do good for people with skin problems.

Along the entire value chain - Together.

How do you sell textiles on the basis of a fiber structure? This has always been the key challenge to make the market understand the relevance of SMARTFIBER's innovative fibers. As an illustration, antibacterial washcloths and socks were developed, and the application has evolved immeasurably - to this day SMARTFIBER is involved when it comes to new products in the areas of clothing, functional textiles, home textiles as well as technical textiles, gastronomy and hotel industry, and many more.
